MY HOW
My shooting process is pretty simple. If I respond to something, I make the picture, move on and try to piece together the why of it at some later date. The most important thing is to shoot. Over time, patterns and connections emerge.
I like that the “why of the moment” comes from a place of which I’m not entirely consciously aware. It’s like there is a second me that walks a half dozen paces ahead and sends back messages like, “This is it. Please use that device and your technical capacity to record it. Now.”
I have a bunch of images I’ve made of plain white plastic deck chairs in different countries, light and circumstances going back a few years. I have no idea why. I haven’t caught up to it yet.
